How to Buy a Lovely Wedding Gown Without Breaking Your Budget Sunday, May 4 2008

Every bride wants to look lovely on her wedding day, and wedding gowns play an important part on how she will trun out to be. But wedding gowns are costly. And if you are like most of us who are trying to fit everything in a budget for that special day, you don’t have to spend so much on that single attire you’ll probably be wearing once.

Having a wedding theme allows you to wear an attire according to that theme. For example, if your theme is the 50’s era, there’s no need to look hard for an attire suited for that theme. Maybe your mother still has her gown and you can wear that instead of buying one.

But if you’re looking for a traditional bridal gown, you don’t have to buy a brand new one. Many brides wear used bridal gowns for their special day. As I mentioned earlier, you shouldn’t be spending too much on an attire that might be in your closet forever. Look at second hand stores or thrift stores. They are dry cleaned, and some were not even worn at all. Shop at bridal stores during an off season and look for one that fits you.

Another place worth considering is Ebay. It is a marketplace to visit when you want things at a fraction of the retail cost, and many sellers sell even new gowns at incredibly low prices. You can also buy other things you need for your wedding from them.

Other places you should look into are garage sales in your area and classified ads of your newspapers. They might need repair, though.

But if you have ample time, you can buy your own fabric and have a gown made for you. This way your gown will be made according to your own style, and you will not worry whether it will fit you or not.

Wedding Software For Your Wedding Friday, May 2 2008

As with many other things in life, the internet has made
planning a wedding a lot easier. Planning a wedding is one of
the most complicated things you will ever do, and there are so
many things to keep track of that a computer and the right
wedding software can certainly make things easier.

==The Best Wedding Software==

The best wedding software will include places for the wedding
planner to put deadlines, prices and other information.

This kind of information is vital to properly planning a
wedding.

Keeping track of deadlines is particularly difficult when
planning a wedding, since there are so many deadlines to deal
with. Everything from ordering the cake to setting the menu to
renting the reception hall will have its own deadline, and
wedding software makes this job a lot easier.

==Locating Your Wedding Software==

There are many places to search for wedding software, from the
local office supply or computer store to large big box
electronic stores to the internet.

There are a great many software packages on the market, and it
is important to choose the right one. Many wedding software
packages feature trial versions that can be downloaded free of
charge.

It is important for the bride to be or the wedding planner to
try out a couple of different software packages until he or she
finds just the right one.

==Your Wedding Software Should Be Easy To use==

It is also important that the wedding software you choose be
easy to use, intuitive and user friendly. It is also important
that it be easy to learn, after all you will want to use your
time entering all those important wedding planning details, not
learning to use the software.

The best wedding planning software will provide you all the
vital information at a glance, including upcoming deadlines, the
status of your wedding budget, and other important information.

The right software can make all the difference in the world, and
make planning the perfect wedding a lot easier.

Preparation is Crucial for your Wedding Speech Thursday, Apr 17 2008

Preparation is crucial in your wedding Speech Maid of Honor

Attention Maid of Honor,

I know that you are supposed to prepare a wedding speech.

Don’t panic! I understand the way you must be feeling, but trust me; you are not the only person nervous about the wedding so you are not alone.

I would like to provide some advice: If you really want to succeed in your wedding speech, you should focus in a very important stage: preparation of the wedding speech.

The one thing you don’t want to do on the day of the wedding is stand up to make your speech and try to “wing” it. Trying to make a speech up off the top of your head is a recipe for disaster. Chances are you’ll forget what you wanted to say, ramble on about unrelated matters, and say some things you may later wish you hadn’t.

“Now wait,” you may be saying, “I’ve seen plenty of people who did great jobs and they seemed to be giving a completely spontaneous speech.” Fair enough, but the key word here is “seemed.” The majority of speeches we see, especially the ones that appear to be spontaneous and unplanned, are just the opposite. These speeches have been planned to such an extent that the speaker can deliver them so that it appears the words are coming to him off the top of his head. This type of speaking is known as extemporaneous.

Extemporaneous speaking allows you to plan out what you want to say but also forces you to practice it so that you can deliver your words with only a handful of notes instead of a word-for-word manuscript. There are a number of reasons why extemporaneous speaking is the best choice for a wedding speech:
• Because you aren’t reading a manuscript, you will be able to make eye contact with guests which adds a sense of sincerity and warmth to your speech.
• Because you aren’t making the speech up as you go along, you can make sure to include all of the points you want to make. You won’t leave anything out.
• Because you are going to practice the speech, you’ll feel more comfortable with the words and with the delivery. By the time you’re ready for the actual speech, you’ll be prepared.
• Because people tend to sound monotone when they read something word for word aloud, extemporaneous speaking sounds more natural and more pleasing to the audience’s ears.

For this reason, it is crucial that you prepare your wedding speech. Remember, the bride and the groom will remember your wedding speech forever. Knowledge is power, and the more you “know” what you are going to say, the more you will succeed during your wedding speech.
My best recommendation is: A hot tea (or coffee), your favorite music as background, and 5 minute meditation and reflection before you begin writing your wedding speech.
Good luck in your wedding speech!

What You Should Wear Under Your Wedding Dress Saturday, Apr 12 2008

You’ve got almost everything in place: you’ve got the venue for both the wedding ceremony and reception. The menu has been set. Flowers, photographers, souvenirs, dresses - you’ve got them. You ticked off every item on the checklist, which is absolutely great!

Just to check though… did you remember to prepare what goes beneath the dress? Keep in mind that what’s under the dress is as important as the dress itself.

You’d be amazed at what a difference the correct foundation garment can make to the way a dress fits and flows on you. In fact the best wedding dress designers will ask you and help you plan what to wear with the gown. They may even have it specially made for you.

Most designers would recommend that you wear a strapless bra on your wedding day but it can be extremely uncomfortable if it doesn’t fit right (not to mention the forever checking if it’s properly in place). If you’re wearing a backless gown this won’t do at all. You’d need to wear something that can’t be seen at all!

So, before you go shopping for the lingerie to go with your gown, check the style, fit and material of your gown. If it’s a strapless you may opt to wear a bustier instead. It is meant to hug your curves perfectly and it is long enough to stay in place without the straps. Choose one with a good push up to enhance your look at the nuptials. This is good for the off the shoulder ones as well.

If you’re dress was designed to bare your back then check out the new line of bras and corsets that have fasteners at the waist. If you can’t find one you like, take a look at the adhesive types that stick to your skin. It’s best that you give it a trial run first to ensure that you aren’t allergic to what makes it stick.

If your dress is too sheer, the color of your lingerie may show through and ruin your look. It may be a better idea to wear a color that matches your skin rather than white. It would be less obvious that way.

You’ll also need to think about the bottom line. Depending on the way your skirt is cut and its material, your panty line may show; especially if the style of your gown is a close fit and the material drapes. One piece body huggers of a very slim material and a high cut would be excellent for avoiding this problem. Some even have waist shapers which will be much appreciated by those brides who wish to look svelte at their wedding.

Make Your Own Personalized Wedding Planner Sunday, Apr 6 2008

Keeping all your wedding papers and contacts organized will is a
must when planning a wedding. There are many computer progams
available to help you do this, however, it’s kind of hard to
carry a computer along with you as you make your rounds visiting
locations and meeting with vendors. As well, many people aren’t
all that comfortable using a computer for such things.

There are also many books and organizers available which you can
purchase to help you with this organizing task. You can find
these at book and stationary stores, however you can also
quickly put together your own wedding planner, personalizing it
to suit your needs. Not to mention, you will save yourself some
money. With wedding budgets being fairly tight, this is an
inexpensive alternative. Here’s how you can make your own
wedding planner.

Materials Needed:

1 three-ring binder

10 to 12 tab pages

Lined loose-leaf paper

10 to 12 clear, top-loading plastic protector sheets

1 to 2 clear, press-on laminating sheets (for the front & back
covers)

Photos, lace, ribbons - whatever decorations you desire to dress
up the front cover

White or tacky glue

How To Put It Together

1. After choosing your photos and other decorative mementos for
your planning book, work out a pleasing arrangement on the front
cover. You may also wish to use scrapbook paper to help you with
the design. There are many beautiful papers available for this
purpose and can be found at any craft store. Once you have your
arrangement set, glue the pieces to the cover. Apply the
laminating sheet over the top. Move your hand from the center
out to the edges to push out any air bubbles and smooth out the
sheet.

2. Taking your tab pages, label each one with the following
labels:

Calendar - create your own wedding countdown sheet or print one
off from the Internet. Insert the countdown calendar in this
location and check off each item as you complete each of the
steps.

Budget - keep your budget sheet here with estimated costs,
actual costs, who’s paying for each item

Invitations & Thank You’s - printing, guest list, postage,
etc.

Flowers - all flowers for both the reception and the ceremony,
including bouquets

Clothing - wedding dress, headpiece and veil, accessories,
groom’s attire, attendant’s attire & accessories

Wedding Ceremony - ceremony location, officiant, musicians,
soloist, decorations, wedding programs, etc.

Photography/Videography - engagement photos, wedding photos,
newspaper announcements, albums, videotaping, etc.

Reception - location rental, table setup, plates & cutlery,
decorations, entertainment, wedding favors, labor, etc.

Wedding Cake - wedding cake, groom’s cake, cake topper, cake
knife and server, etc.

Food and Beverages - all food and beverages, serving tables, how
it’s to be served, etc.

Honeymoon - transportation, accommodations, entertainment,
clothing, etc.

Miscellaneous - all the other stuff: transportation to and from
wedding/reception, marriage license, blood tests, rehearsal
dinner, gifts for attendants, any other expenses

3. Place your tabbed sheets into the binder. Place your budget
worksheet under the budget section. Add several sheets of
loose-leaf paper to all the other sections for making notes. You
should copy the related budget information on the first paper
sheet of each section for quick reference. Use the note paper to
write down names, dates, meeting times, phone numbers, addresses
and any other related information to that section. If you
receive business cards (which you will), tape them to the
pages.

4. Place a plastic protector sheet in each section as well. You
will use these to hold contracts, receipts, price lists,
pictures, clippings, brochures, and other related category
information. Not only will you be able to quickly get your hands
on a piece of needed correspondence or a receipt, you will also
have a collection of mementos that can be used later for putting
together a wedding scrapbook.
