Set on Serra de Sintra within its special climate, the ancient town of Sintra has long been a favourite summer refuge for the portuguese Kings. During the centuries a lot of palaces, manor houses and gene-rously laid-out gardens have been built all embedded in the luxuriant mass of vegetation. A world apart highly praised by Lord Byron: Sintra, “the glorious Eden”.
Quinta da Fonte Nova is a typical country estate, a truly idyllic resort. It consists of a beautiful 1875 mansion with its own chapel, formal garden and a forty acre walled natural parkland with extensive pine woods, flowering acacias, palm trees, cedars and eucalyptus groves, where select guests are treated as Guests, not as costumers.
Although the private property has managed to keep its historic atmosphere you will not miss the amenities of modern tourism. At your disposal are the large swimming pool, sun terrace as well as a spacious lounge with fire place, bar and dinning room in period style where breakfast is served. The 10 guest rooms correspond with the manor’s rustic style, all of them individually furnished and twin bedded, with bathroom/wc and satellite TV.
The romantic town of Sintra is full of magic and mystery, surrounded by a remarkable landscape and built heritage, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Just a few kilometres north you can reach the fishing village of Ericeira , visit the amazing royal palace in Mafra, or walk the walled medieval village of Óbidos.
