The Future Of Gaming Notebooks Saturday, Jun 28 2008

Laptop computers seem to be the current trendy thing this year. But be warned if you want the new tech than you need to come up with some patience as there could be part shortages. It looks like once there are back orders those will only grow because demand for laptops is not slowing down at all. It’s a market which is also hard to keep up with it respect of of technology because its developing all the time.

I’ve witnessed an increasing number of consumers enquiring about gaming notebooks. With prices dropping and new technology being released rather quickly it means that consumers are getting more value for money. For those who need portability, the power notebooks offer in terms of gaming shouldn’t be frowned upon much longer as performance is improved. I think what’s vastly incredible is how thin the casings are and how cool the units run. Extreme game players will always like their desktop gaming rigs for power and rightly so but it’s the usability notebooks provide that influences people compromise on frame rates. It will be exciting to see what gaming portables come out in the future and how small they can make them.

I feel need for custom notebooks will always be here. The concept of obtaining third party components appeals to some people in my opinion. You can typically save money on things you do not need by specifying the system to your needs. Pre-configured laptop computers are targeted at consumers who have like minded needs and that is probably not you right? Custom notebooks provide a work around to this. Companies who sell custom notebooks usually provide a more personalised and local service too. A lot ofMany specialist sectors recognise they are served better as a result of this.

It surely will interesting to see what gets released next. The small $500 notebooks are shifting like crazy at at minute. I don’t feel anyone thought they would be so popular. If someone produces a laptop that has a large screen but is also light at a mass market price I feel it would be a great success. There are portables similar to this in the market already, just at high ticket prices. Companies are loading more performance into laptop computers and it looks like gaming notebooks will get thinner and lighter. All the manufacturers are looking to launch the next gigantic portable so it’ll be exciting to survey.

I’ve discovered what I think are the best gaming laptops.

Cruise Ships - What Price is a Cruise? Thursday, Jun 26 2008

I find it very interesting to read different people’s opinion’s of the exact same cruise - one person loved it, the next person hated it. Before a trip, I gobble up every review I can get my hands on - there are always some helpful tips in the reviews, and it prepares you for some things you would never have
thought of.

I think finding a cruise line that fits your life style and tastes makes most sense. This requires doing research and asking fellow travelers about their experiences and travel agents on various lines. Reviews also can also be helpful but I think the most important factor is understanding the type of cruise, and the tastes, of the person reviewing the ship was seeking, because this always flavors the review. There are many contrasting reviews of the same cruise in the various review sites on the web.

Sometimes you’ll find people on the same cruise, with the same accomodations, have paid significantly different fares. This may have to do with whether they are repeaters, deals from travel agents, deals from the cruise lines, etc.

Advertising and brochures should be taken for what they are, promotional materials. Prices in brochures are usually 30% or more higher than actual prices that TA will be able to get.

There may be plenty of interesting cruise lines that are not the biggest lines. The most commonly known lines are Carnival, Celebrity, Holland America, Norweigan Cruise Lines, Royal Carribean, and Princess. There’s also the smaller lines like Premiere, Disney, Costa and the luxury lines like Crystal, Cunard, Seabourn, Radisson, Silverseas, quite expensive, and some feel well worth it. Then on the other side of the scale there is the ultra casual, Windjammer Barefoot cruise lines, with sailships and other tall ships such as Windsurfer, which is a more formal line. There are, besides the big 6 lines, quite a bit of choices available to people interested in cruising.

There are small riverboat cruises, cruises and large boats that do specific, often very scenic, areas of the world, like Alaska, also.

I find that some people are very flexible, that they’ll enjoy a wide variety of styles of cruising. Others are more specific and discerning and some lines would not meet their expectations in some way or another. So, it really boils down to you and what experience, or range of experiences, you are interested in.

Focus Your Attention Tuesday, Jun 24 2008

Lately, there has been a collective challenge to avoid being embroiled in the media events of all that has been happening in the social, political, economic and military arenas of our great nation. Many recent events have left people with a sense of ominous foreboding, uncertainty, fear, despondency. At the very least, there is mild emotional discomfort and a sense of vague dissonance.

However, there certainly are a lot of other things that are worth focusing on and worth paying attention to. Some suggest that the negative news coverage in general is significantly disproportionate to the actual negativity that may impact one specific individual. These days, when micro events can be quantified and immediately reported to a world waiting to binge on a new serving of news every moment of the day, it’s easy to see how one’s focus can be disproportionately adjusted to see only the negative events that are happening. It’s rather myopic and sad. While there has to be some value in keeping up with real risks that impact individuals and their families, a steady diet of too much news can be as mentally and spiritually unhealthy as a physical binge diet of sugar and cholesterol. Here are some areas that can be attended to as new focuses especially As the much longed-for Thanksgiving and holiday season approaches, let’s focus on some areas that can become new sources of focus.

Family and Friends. Have we gotten so involved with life, living and the cycle of things that we are not paying as much attention to our families as we’d like? This is a great time to focus spending quality time with family and friends, perhaps planning new activities and creating new and inventive ways to spend that time.

Finance. A spate of bad news, or a slow economy, is a good time to regroup financially and determine what financial priorities. There’s no need to struggle or fret. Instead, simply spend some time in assessing financial plans as they pertain to spending, investing, saving and building for the future. If there is no formal plan, this is a good time to find help creating one.

Short- and Long-Term Goals. The most successful people are the ones who look farthest into the future. Most people are focused on the here-and-now. They are bounced around by daily conditions and do not regard long term disciplines necessary to create a future. Goals involve the family, finances, vacations, work, personal development, spiritual development, education, etc.

Personal Values. Reassess priorities and look at personal values. In nature, winter is a “pulling-back” time when things slow down. It is a time for reflection and reassessment. Evaluate, and become grounded, centered and focused.

Whatever the area, pull away from, and avoid the news media binges. Try watching or listening to the news only once a week. Look for ways to maintain focus on the good things and on the things that are truly important to life, personal values, family and projects. Above all, and especially at this time, focus on being thankful.

Buy Cheap Baby Clothes for Your Child Tuesday, Jun 24 2008

Shopping for less does not mean you have to get some ugly outfits. Actually when you look for cheap baby clothes chances are you won’t pick up that raggedy shirt that looks more like a dish rag, however you may pick up the one that looks brand new, with the tag still on it. Right?

Many believe that the word cheap is associated with being poor but that isn’t case, in fact buying cheap is actually smart and will help you save money to buy more expensive things or those items you dream of owning one day. Cheap baby clothes can be brand new, out-of-date, or even something worn only once. But the thing is they are at a reduced price.

If you’ve ever walked into a department store and looked at the clearance rack these are cheap clothes. Course they’d never advertise “Cheap Clothes” because they are afraid no one will look thinking they are ruined, or ugly. I think if they put the phrase on it they would have everyone over there in a hurry.

Try going to yard sales and buying outfits that will be bigger. If you have a 4-year-old that you know will be in a size 5 or 6 next summer purchase items now, this will not only save you money but you’ll have some surprises for them when the time comes. This works great for a baby as you can buy a year in advance and not have to worry about it next year.

What Does Your Business Address Say? Friday, Jun 20 2008

If you are operating a business from your home and
your post office address clearly indicates a home
address, you may want to re-think your marketing
strategy.

A Rural Route 2 address can plainly say your
business might be in a bedroom at home, or worse,
in the barn. Does 27 Sleeping Beauty Circle look
like a business address to you?

If your business is still at home and your address
screams it, get a post office box. There are also
companies that rent addresses and forward your
mail. You could have a Chicago address and live in
Nebraska (although I don’t recommend it).
A Chicago address might sound better than a suburb
(RR #2 Box 2451, Gurnee, Illinois), but keep it
within reason. An Internet search for “Mail
Forwarding” will give you an idea of how it all
works (and costs).

If your on-line address looks like the Tarzan Yell
you may want to re-think your web strategy.

What comes to mind when you see an AOL, Hotmail or
Yahoo eMail address? Home? Fun? Hobby? Cheap?
Stigmas can attach and hold like glue. They are
tough to shake. Your business does not need Cheap
and Chinsey.

No matter what size your business, you should have
your own domain name which, in turn, gives you
your own eMail address, even if you don’t want to
put up a web page. I have been asked how to do
this so many times, I wrote a Special Report with
step by step instructions. Read about it here
http://BigIdeasGroup.com/html/special_reports.html

Experts agree, you need a domain name, but they
differ as to whether your domain name should just
be your name (BernieSchwartz.com), or be the name
of your business (SchwartzPlumbing.com) or be
very broad in scope (PlumbingHorizons.com).

My domain, BigIdeasGroup.com has a broad scope
but also reinforces my personal brand as BIG Mike.
I bet I am the only BIG Mike you will read about
today, or this week.

What if your business phone number is also your
home phone number and someone else answers,
“Heh-whoa? I’ll Get my Mom-mee”. What impression
does that give?

Would you feel comfortable doing business with a
firm who’s answer machine says “Hi, you’ve reached
Molly, Bernie, Bernie Jr and little Susie, sorry
we can’t come to the phone but if you…”)

Your business should be using a separate number,
no matter what the size. Specific ideas on how to
have a separate business line and fax number
are detailed in my free article “What Does Your
Telephone Say?” Send a blank eMail to
MailTo:TelephoneSay@BIGIdeasGroup.com.

Your business card can say a lot about your
business image, too. Get my article “What Does
Your Business Card Say?”
MailTo:BizCardSay@BigIdeasGroup.com

Your business address is more than where the
mailman delivers the bills. It includes your
telephone and your cyberspace image as well. Get
all three working for you instead of against you.

Find your E-Commerce Strength in Web design Friday, Jun 20 2008

There are times when you have used the principles of web designing, made the best persuasive content yet there has been no empowering result on your sales and wealth flow. What seems to be missing?

E-commerce web site development services evolve faster than we could imagine. This is the reason why web designers must be well adept of what’s hot from what’s not.

The taboos and clichés of web design must be left behind. We have to move on and grow with the web site development services.

Time is one great power. As we move forward, we are discovering lots of things to make our design more persuasive and useful. Two of these newly discovered designs invading the Net these days are those that use 3D objects and robots. These designs are made possible by the use of 3D software, latest technologies and other sophisticated materials.

When it comes to 3D objects, a simple spreadsheet can edit them. A skilled individual can manipulate the object’s chamfers, fillets, dimensions, shell thickness and more. You just have to explore the software to create an astounding 3D object for your page.

Robots, on the other hand, are easy to download. There are numerous sites that are offering them. Through robots, you can give ample information. They are recorded with the intention that the minute viewers set their eyes on your site, they will instantly hear the information. No need to scroll, no need to type. The information is made ready for them.

Remember that viewers are pretty choosy and can change their mind in a matter of seconds. Before their patience snaps, be sure that you already got their attention and liking. In order to do so, 3D objects and robots can be used to uplift your e-commerce web site development.

These additions will tickle their fondness of freshly discovered things at the same time will keep them engrossed and captivated.

With today’s fast-paced world, we can say that more discoveries are yet to come. In time, the web design will be totally different from what we are enjoying today. Nonetheless, we have to take advantage of today’s new innovations and technology. They will not only keep our pages pleasant to look at but they will surely grab a multitude of visitors that will redound to your favorable e-commerce strength.

Dance for Fitness - Why the Ballroom Beats The Treadmill Friday, Jun 20 2008

Dancing can get your heart pumping as well as a treadmill but it will do even more, especially if you get out on a dance floor rather than going to a hip-hop, salsa or other dance-style aerobics class in a gym. In addition to toning muscles and staying in shape aerobically, ballroom dancers of all skill levels report feeling less stressed, having a more positive outlook on life, sleeping better, being more flexible, having more energy, being more alert mentally, and getting along better with other people. And you don’t have to dance with the stars, become competitive or go through a dance boot camp to benefit.

“People forget how much fun it is to go out and move to music with other people,” says Judy Gantz, founder and director of the Center for Movement Education and Research in Los Angeles and a faculty member at the University of California Los Angeles; “And dance requires somewhat complex coordination so it enhances your brain.”

Researchers Identify Surprising Benefits

At the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, NY, researchers examined how exercise influences the risk of dementia by tracking 469 people over the age of 75 for a period of 5 years. They found that dancing was associated with a lower risk of dementia, while swimming, bicycling, participating in group exercises, playing team games such as bowling, walking for exercise, climbing stairs or doing housework did not offer the same benefit.

Other studies have shown some unexpected ways in which dance benefits people of different ages:

* At the University of California Irvine, medical students who took art and dance classes were better able to observe and empathize with their patients.
* In Sweden, elite cross-country skiers who did pre-season dance training experienced less back pain from skiing.
* In a Korean study, depressed teens experienced relief from dance therapy, and had measurably higher levels of serotonin.
* In Connecticut, breast cancer survivors who took part in a 12-week therapeutic dance program at a medical center in Meriden improved their quality of life.

Calories Burn Fast

Aerobically speaking, dance matches many grunt-and-groan activities. Researchers at the Mayo Clinic, based in Rochester, MN, have estimated that dancing can burn 200 to 400 calories in 30 minutes and an evening of square dancing can equate to walking five miles. In addition, side-to-side dance movements help to prevent osteoporosis by strengthening weight-bearing bones.

Who’s Dancing?

During the past few years, as dance-oriented television shows and movies have gained fans, people have been discovering ballroom dancing at a younger age. The national chain of Arthur Murray dance studios, going strong since 1912, is seeing more people in their twenties who want to prepare for a wedding or master Latin moves. Their students, more than 10,000 people per week, also include couples of all ages who dance for fun, and high-powered professionals who find that a dance floor relieves stress better than a gym.

Competitive dance, known as DanceSport, is recognized as a sport by the International Olympic Committee and popularity of both the sport and social dancing is growing dramatically. More than 300 colleges in the United States, including Ivy League schools, offer ballroom dance programs.

Where to Learn

Commercial dance schools aren’t the only places where you can hone your moves — universities, community colleges and community groups offer low-cost classes and events around the country. Information about social and competitive dancing is also available from the United States Amateur Ballroom Dancers Association (www.usabda.org), which has grown from 12 local chapters in 1986 to more than 150 today.

“Motivation plays a huge part in staying active,” says Gantz, “And there’s a joy, when you work with music and other people, that is highly involving and motivating.”

Navigating the Scary World of WAHM Opportunities Monday, Jun 16 2008

When you first start looking for stay at home moms jobs, it can seem like there is a whole world of opportunity out there, just waiting for you. What you may not realize is that there is a stark reality of people who are waiting to take advantage of you. It is important to be informed about scam artists and the type of opportunities they offer so that you don’t lose your hard earned money and so that you don’t waste any time. Here are some warning sings to look out for.

1. The stay at home moms job sounds too good to be true. The old adage is right, especially when it comes to online jobs. You need to realistic and get the right expectations when you are looking to start your own business. Don’t get caught up in the hype of what sounds like a great opportunity. Your intuition will tell you when something doesn’t feel right and it is very important to listen to that. If you’re uncertain, ask around, and do some searching before you get in over your head.

2. The stay at home moms opportunity has a bad reputation. When you’re dealing with anything online, it does not take long for word of mouth to travel, both good and bad. If you are finding that a lot of people have had bad experiences with an opportunity, you need to listen to that. When it sounds really good, it can be very tempting to think that maybe the person just didn’t do it right, or the company has changed since then. Chances are - neither is true. There are plenty of great stay at home moms jobs out there, don’t get caught in a bad one.

3. The stay at home moms job requires a lot of extra money to work. It’s one thing to make an investment in an opportunity. It’s quite another to get stuck shelling out money continuously to make it work. Before you start any job, make sure that you have a good idea of the kind of marketing expenses you’re going to have to pay for and any other fees that may be involved. It may sound good on the surface, but remember our first point above - it may just be too good to be true.

These are the three main warning signs that you need to be aware of before looking for stay at home moms jobs. There are a few others, but these cover the basics. Remember, you’ll know inside when you find the right job, and you need to listen to that little voice. Always check out every opportunity thoroughly before you pay out a dime. This step will save you thousands of dollars and a lot of heartache. It really does pay to be careful in the online world. It’s home to some of the best stay at home moms jobs in the world, but there are a lot of sharks out there.

Love Prisons Monday, Jun 16 2008

The American criminal justice system is not appropriately named
because it meets justice to criminals. It is appropriately named
because the justice system itself is criminal. Those who operate
these ever expanding bureaucracies don’t care at all about
justice and have no clue what justice is. When President Bush
speaks of American justice as though it was judicial caviar, I
want to vomit. You should too. The problem is foundational. The
U.S. Constitution, which is the pattern for many State
Constitutions as well, prohibits cruel and unusual punishment.
Wiser people would have forbidden cruel punishments, usual or
not. An unusual punishment would be victim restitution or
compensation. It would be unusual but it would not be cruel, so
it is not forbidden. Family support is not even a punishment, so
it is not forbidden by this law.

The problem is, the wording allows cruel punishment as long as
it is usual. We can be usually cruel. If we can be unusually
cruel and get away with it for a year or two, it becomes usual
cruelty and legal. This is how the U.S. prison bureaucracy has
constantly increased in legal cruelty. Like the phony wars on
poverty, drugs and terror that will never end, so is the war on
crime. All were created as social cancers that consume the
national economy by people who want government to be the sole
employers of people. If bigger is better, biggest is bestest.

Cruelly deprive a child of love, affection, self esteem and
build a cage for the adult you created. When you have this adult
locked in a cage, deprive him or her of dignity, love, affection
and self esteem. Make him totally dependent for everything he
needs for life. Don’t allow him any productive work and don’t
pay him any meaningful pay for menial chores. Isolate him from
all he knew except the violence and see that he gets regular
doses of violence in continuous survival conditions. Further
isolate those who get caught up in the violence.

Make the whole environment so unattractive, as to discourage
visitation. Restrict, for half and non legitimate security
reasons, his access to decent food and health care. Repress,
oppress, suppress and depress this person who did not properly
respect some law or other.

When he has become completely dependent on the system, turn him
loose with nothing and tell him he better get a job. I say, send
him to Washington or the State Capitol to make new and never
ending laws. He will do better than the professionals we hire.
He at least knows what justice is not. Turning people into
beasts is never justice. It is insanity. Once the damage is done
it needs to be undone, not compounded.

For years, the prison industry has been the fastest growing
segment of the American economy. Those who don’t get government
jobs will fill these prisons and drive up the demand for more,
bigger and uglier high security housing. It is such a delightful
prospect. If what recently happened in Iraq is unattractive,
what would it be like here if the prisoners were all liberated?
Let the good times roll, eh? Millions of people who can no
longer take care of themselves, settling scores. Let’s try that
on global TV.

I have noticed the recent progress in animal husbandry and I am
sincerely pleased by the trend. Could we learn enough about
humane treatment for animals to teach us humane treatment for
people? Can we warehouse people who are restricted but healthy,
happy and productive? Do lawbreakers need to permanently forfeit
their humanity as punishment? How can incarceration be a just
punishment for anything but kidnapping, murder and rape, where
one deprives another of liberty?

In the Old Testament, we had an eye for an eye and tooth for
tooth. It was justice without mercy. The New Testament teaches
merciful justice but the New Testament is lost on America. Have
you noticed? We have become the stronghold of devils our enemies
claim and this criminal justice is the ugly proof. This system
is a gauge of national spiritual immaturity. It portrays the
value we place on soul or spirit. It is an Old World relic of
barbarity that needs serious reform.

Government schools don’t identify and support neglected and
abused children and wasted lives become the object of corrupted
government. Government sweeps its social mistakes into Graybar
hotels, out of public sight, out of public mind. It’s a non
issue. The public neither knows nor cares. Let’s outlaw criminal
justice. Let’s outlaw public ignorance.

Unlike citizens, criminals are created, not born. Negligent and
abusive parenting, which is often multi - generational, and
unspiritual education create perhaps half of the U.S. criminal
population. The rest is created by incessant lawmaking. An
entire professional class writes new law, year in and year out
and people pay them to do it. We ask what schools our children
should attend. We need to ask what prisons their children will
attend. It is time for everyone to take an interest in modern
prison life. It affects all of us, even if we choose to ignore
it. It is a storm cloud over the national spirit. Our prisons
are spiritual mirrors and there is none fair in the land.

The political will as concerns prison, swings with liberal and
conservative influence. Conservatives want every aspect of
prison life to be punishment. Liberals want humane treatment and
rehabilitation. Because liberals never remain in power,
prisoners eventually lose any gains they make and conditions
usually get worse than before the liberal swing improved them.
That is, prison life becomes increasingly accommodating to the
desires of prison administration.

Much of what is done in the name of prison security, is like
that we see done in the name of national security. Shortcut
solutions to save time, expense and staff, that infringe the
rights and humane treatment of others. If some prisoners use
telephone communications to run con games on the public, with or
without outside help, all prisoners are restricted in telephone
communication. It is restricted by the telephone time allotted
each prisoner every month. It is monitored, recorded and
restricted to the length of call. It is restricted because only
collect calls are allowed at rates up to ten times higher than a
direct dial or phone card call. This is a blatant infringement
on the privacy and economic rights of the person called and
discourages people from accepting the charges. In many cases,
the state gets rebate kickbacks from the phone company as part
of this monopoly contract.

To restrict the profits of smuggling drugs and other contraband
to prison staff, (Just Us) visitors often must submit to
searches and strip searches which effectively discourages
visitation as commanded in the Bible. When is the last time you
visited a prisoner? Wasn’t it a special experience?

The same is done with mail. If you send a letter, a money order
and a simple gift that is not on an authorized list or appears
homemade, the entire package is returned with a notice of what
is unacceptable. The U.S. Postal Service only takes
responsibility for prison mail delivery to the prison itself. If
mail gets lost or sits on the mailroom floor for weeks, there is
nothing the inmate can do but complain and the same for the
sender. Prison mail rooms should be operated by specially
trained employees of the U.S.P.S. as they would a small town or
village.

Prison food is poor and to save costs, only meets minimal
dietary requirements. There are prisons with farms that inmates
operate. The fresh farm crops are then sold for profit and the
inmates are fed canned and spoiled food. When you are living in
a din of noise, under constant threat of attack and abuse by
staff and other inmates, the ever present stress, from which
there is no escape save solitary punishment, boosts nutritional
requirements. Over time, anyone will become ill, probably
everyone.

When an inmate becomes ill, no matter what the problem, it is
of little concern to administration. They will provide medical
attention when it is convenient to them. The prison physician is
poorly paid, overworked and may be so incompetent, he could find
no other paid employment. Prison malpractice is the rule and not
the exception. If an outsider wants to send an inmate dietary
supplements or herbs for a health problem, it is not allowed in
most prisons. In some, probably few, it is allowed if it is sent
in by a commercial distributor, reducing the likelihood of
contraband.

Often inmate victims of medical neglect, abuse and malpractice,
have to sue the system to get help. When they do so, they come
in for punishment by administration and staff. More often than
not, their case is dismissed on legal technicalities, which only
the most experienced paralegals can avoid, after many years of
filing what the courts call frivolous lawsuits. They have to
file, just to learn all the snares and pitfalls. The courts are
in no hurry to adjudicate inmate cases, so they languish in
courthouse IN baskets for months and years, forcing inmates to
file motions to move their cases. If they win their lawsuits,
their condition is usually many times worse than it was when
they filed suit and they will get the minimal medical attention
the prison can get away with under court order, or worse, more
malpractice.

No matter what your crime may be, imprisonment is always a de
facto death sentence. Prison life robs one of health and the
life force, one day at a time. Most of America does not know
this. Most of America does not care, unless a friend or relative
gets caught up in the great Just Us system. But now you know,
dear reader, and with a little imagination you could do much to
improve the lives of many who were somebody’s victims, long
before they ever committed any crime. Have mercy on the more
than two million souls whose lives are long stories of abuse and
neglect that never ends.
